The Quebec College of Physicians is recommending an "evaluation mechanism for the physical and cognitive capabilities of doctors of a certain age," according to an article in the Montreal Gazette.
The recommendation comes after the discovery of 109 undetected cancers after the college reviewed more than 22,000 mammography exams. The exams were conducted by a Quebec radiologist who is 77, and who has been found to have misread mammography x-rays at a rate five times the acceptable norm, the Gazette reported.
