Philips Healthcare has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its MicroDose SI full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system.
MicroDose SI features digital photon-counting technology, which allows clinicians to conduct mammograms with low radiation dose and maintain image quality.
Philips has upgraded the technology with single-shot spectral imaging to image different tissue types and materials that absorb x-rays at various energies. Philips estimates exam times of less than five minutes, including image acquisition.
