Computer-aided detection (CAD) developer VuCOMP has installed its M-Vu CAD software at Mammography Specialists Medical Group in Los Gatos, CA.
M-Vu CAD received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for digital mammography in October 2012. Although mammography CAD systems have been FDA-approved since 1998, recent FDA guidelines have raised the standards for demonstrating CAD effectiveness, the firm said. They now recommend comprehensive reader studies proving that radiologists are more effective when they use CAD, according to VuCOMP.
