Computer-aided detection (CAD) developer VuCOMP is partnering with Konica Minolta Medical Imaging.
Konica Minolta will offer VuCOMP's M-Vu CAD as companion technology for its Regius mammography systems, and VuCOMP will market M-Vu CAD through Konica Minolta's distribution network.
Mammography CAD systems have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 1998, but FDA guidelines now recommend comprehensive reader studies demonstrating that radiologists are more effective using CAD. M-Vu CAD is the first product to meet this FDA standard for proving effectiveness, receiving FDA approval for digital mammography in October 2012, according to VuCOMP.
