Global revenue growth in all four business segments powered women's imaging vendor Hologic to positive gains in the company's first quarter of fiscal 2016 (end-December 26).
Revenue in the first quarter increased 6% to $695.2 million, compared with $652.8 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2015. Net income almost tripled to $84.9 million in the quarter, compared with $29.2 million in fiscal 2015's first quarter.
Most notably, U.S. sales advanced 13% to $545.1 million, compared with the same quarter a year ago. However, international sales declined 11% (or down 5.4% after currency adjustments) to $150.1 million.
Hologic's Breast Health business unit reported a 10% revenue gain in the first quarter of fiscal 2016, rising to $218.1 million, with U.S. sales contributing $214.8 million of that total.
