Women's imaging vendor Hologic saw revenue grow nearly 6% in its second fiscal quarter (end-March 26), while net income for the period also rose sharply.
For the quarter, Hologic reported sales of $693.3 million, up 5.8% from $655.5 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2015. The company posted net income of $68.9 million, compared with net income of $47.8 million in the same quarter a year ago.
In its discussion of the results, the company said that it saw growth in all four of its business segments, with the highest growth rate in its Gyn Surgical division. In its Breast Health segment, the company reported second-quarter revenues of $275.8 million, up 8% from $255.5 million in the corresponding quarter of 2015.
Within the Breast Health division, Hologic reported that U.S. revenue grew 11.2% on adoption of its Genius 3D mammography systems, while international revenue declined 5.5% on a reported basis and 3.3% after currency adjustments.
