Gov. Pete Ricketts of Nebraska has signed a breast density notification bill into law, making Nebraska the 32nd U.S. state to do so.
The legislation is called "Cheri's Law," because it was sparked by Cheri Rauth, an Omaha resident who received a diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer in 2015, despite never missing a mammography appointment for 15 years, according to the Are You Dense Advocacy organization. Rauth died on January 10, 2016.
The bill goes into effect on September 2.
