Women's imaging vendor Hologic has introduced Trident HD, the next generation of its Trident specimen radiography system.
In comparison with the original Trident system, Trident HD features improvements in image quality and workflow, as well as instant sample verification during breast-conserving surgeries and stereotactic breast biopsies, according to the firm. It also features a larger amorphous selenium-based digital detector that can provide complete imaging of larger breast surgical specimens and a wide range of other surgical and biopsy samples, the company said.
Trident HD, which is 37% smaller than the original Trident, can display prior mammography or biopsy images on its high-resolution monitor. It also includes a touchscreen user interface, according to the vendor. In addition, the system supports wireless image sharing and patient record transfer to an institution's PACS.
Trident HD is now available commercially in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, Hologic said.
