Women's imaging vendor Hologic has entered into an exclusive negotiation agreement for the acquisition of ultrasound equipment manufacturer SuperSonic Imagine.
Hologic's binding offer comes out to an estimated $85 million, which includes up to $43 million in funds that the company would make available to pay off SuperSonic Imagine's net debt. SuperSonic Imagine generated approximately $29 million in revenue in 2018, Hologic said.
Completion of this deal would add to Hologic's growing presence in the global breast ultrasound market, in light of the company's recent acquisition of digital specimen radiography company Faxitron Bioptics as well as implantable device manufacturer Focal Therapeutics.
