Artificial intelligence (AI) software developer Lunit has received commercial approval in Canada for its Insight radiology AI software suite.
Canadian medical device regulator Health Canada issued class II medical licenses for Lunit's Insight CXR AI software for chest x-rays and Insight MMG AI application for mammography. Designed to detect suspicious lesions in chest x-ray images, Insight CXR can detect 10 of the most common chest abnormalities, including support for tuberculosis screening, with 97% to 99% accuracy, according to the vendor.
Meanwhile, Insight MMG offers 96% accuracy in analyzing mammography images and has been shown to reduce the chances of undetected breast cancer cases by 50% in mammogram screenings, the company said.
