The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force's (USPSTF) updated breast cancer screening recommendation doesn't serve women at higher risk of the disease due to dense breast tissue, according to DenseBreast-info.org (DBI).
The organization released a critique of the new guidance that outlines why it is insufficient for women with dense breasts, noting that it only applies to women of "average" risk of cancer --women with dense tissue are at increased risk -- and that the task force concludes that there is "inadequate evidence" for screening MRI after a mammogram in this population of women.
DenseBreast-info.org is urging support for the Find It Early Act and comment to the USPSTF on its recommendation.
