Dear AuntMinnie Member,
In what's become a cherished holiday tradition, we here at AuntMinnie.com take this time to look back at what were the top 10 stories in radiology in 2013.
This year's list demonstrates several broad trends that were top of mind in radiology this year. The first is economic issues -- our top story was an article on $800 million in additional cuts to medical imaging reimbursement found in federal legislation designed to fix the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula in January 2013.
Other important articles during the year included a story on a New York hospital that proposed shutting its radiology residency program (a decision later rescinded, but to no avail as all the residents left), an article on radiology residents behaving badly, and a story on a lawsuit against the American Board of Radiology's maintenance of certification requirements.
Outside the realm of economics, AuntMinnie.com readers were fascinated by several CT-related stories, including a study on the potential risk to children of CT radiation dose and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force's recommendation of CT screening for lung cancer (the latter story in the "fairy tales comes to life" category).
So sit back by the fire with a warm cup of hot cocoa (or your favorite holiday beverage of choice) and enjoy this year's list by clicking here.
We'd like to thank everyone for your support during the year, and we look forward to serving you again in 2014!
