3-D software developer Voxar has released version 3.1 of its Plug n View 3D software. The new release contains several enhancements designed to simplify the generation of 3-D images with minimal user input, according to the Edinburgh, Scotland-based vendor.
Plug n View 3D 3.1 is highlighted by Active Presets, a feature that allows the user to generate 3-D images from medical data sets with a single mouse click, according to Voxar. Active Presets analyzes 3-D volume and automatically selects the best visualization parameters to produce 3-D images, according to the company.
The software also will update the image whenever the user chooses a new area of interest. A 3-D color volume window/level tool allows users to fine-tune the image as easily as adjusting the window/level control on a 2-D PACS workstation, according to the firm.
In addition to Active Presets, Plug n View 3D version 3.1 includes other new features:
- A new preset organizer to help radiologists create, name, organize, store, distribute or share (via email) personal presets.
- Enhanced 3D movie generation, offering the ability to compress and email AVI movie files.
- Improved memory management, allowing large multislice datasets to be quickly loaded.
- A new cine function for curved multiplanar reformations (MPRs).
- Enhanced demographics, image annotation, and measurement functions.
