Computer-aided detection company VuCOMP will showcase M-Vu, a mammography CAD system that uses proprietary image-understanding algorithms to highlight mammographic abnormalities. Plano, TX- based VuCOMP debuted the system at last year's RSNA meeting.

The device processes 27 cases per hour, handles standard film sizes, and produces images with a resolution of 44.5 microns; the workstation includes a 19-inch LCD monitor, adjustable monitor arm, and an integrated barcode reader.

The FDA has not yet cleared M-Vu, but VuCOMP hopes to receive clearance and begin marketing the device in the fourth quarter of 2005.
