Dear Advanced Visualization Insider,
Adopting PET/CT can bring a multitude of clinical benefits, but institutions must be prepared to wade through operational issues, according to Dr. Todd Blodgett of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
For example, sites will need to handle potential turf wars, ensure proper training, develop CT plans, and navigate legal issues, Blodgett said. They must also work out reporting and interpretation, as well as patient selection processes, he added.
Blodgett spoke about PET/CT and image fusion during a talk at the March PACS 2006: Digital Healthcare Information and Management Systems (DHIMS) conference in San Antonio, sponsored by the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
