Philips launches 3D TEE probe at ASE show

Philips Medical Systems of Andover, MA, launched a new ultrasound probe for 3D transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) at this week's American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) conference in Seattle.

The company's X7-2t transducer is based on Philips' Live 3D Echo technology, which was launched in 2002 for general echocardiography applications. The X7-2t transducer marks the first time the technology is being used in a TEE probe, the company said.

Philips believes that matching a TEE probe with Live 3D Echo provides new views of cardiac structure, pathology, and function, and also provides more perspectives of the heart, including 3D views in full motion.

The probe will be available soon on the company's iE33 echo scanner.
