Shina enhances virtual visualization suite

Software developer Shina Systems of Caesarea, Israel, plans to show enhancements to its virtual 3Di advanced visualization suite at the upcoming 2010 RSNA meeting.

Universal access is also a key feature of Shina's zero-footprint, browser-based 2D PACS viewer. It draws images stored in the company's cloud-based archive.

A new patient file locator promises easy access to 2D and 3D studies stored in the Shina systems. Its operation is similar to popular Internet search engines, according to the firm.

Upgrades to the Shina 3Di thin-client suite will make it faster and more intuitive for users. Interactive advanced visualization is possible from any local personal computer communicating with the firm's 3Di cloud network. It is designed to give users the ability to instantly process, view, and manipulate reformations, whether images are archived locally or remotely.

The Shina 3Di was introduced commercially in May 2010 after receiving U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance in February.

Shina's new Web-based 2D PACS viewer allows full-feature image analysis on any Web-enabled PC and handheld device on-the-fly without file downloading. Images stored or cached in Shina's remote cloud are accessible by any authorized user for remote reading, consultations, or patient transfers, according to the company.

The application also serves as an image communication engine for patient electronic medical records. By typing in a patient name or identifier, users will be presented with all matching exams stored within their user group in the Shina system.
