Advanced visualization software developer Intrinsic Medical Imaging has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its IMI Spectrum 3D imaging workstation software.
Intrinsic's visualization platform uses uncompressed rendering techniques that preserve the integrity of data from 2D to 3D, while allowing the user to navigate anywhere in the volume in real-time, according to the company. Intrinsic claims that its algorithms process more than 100 times more operations per second than existing 3D technology, yielding an order-of-magnitude improvement in spatial resolution and image detail over existing standards.
Intrinsic plans to release IMI Spectrum 3D later this year.
