Medical imaging software developer Mirada Medical has installed its XD3 image analysis software at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The NIH will begin using XD3 for multimodality image fusion research, including PET/CT and PET/MR. XD3 is based on Mirada's deformable image registration (DIR) technique, which corrects for nonrigid motion as well as differences in patient positioning. This allows users to fuse PET/CT and MR images that have been acquired using standard protocols on different equipment at different times, according to Mirada.
