Virtual reality (VR) engineering company VRgineers and VR technology developer Leap Motion have partnered on integrating a hand-tracking feature into virtual reality devices.
With Leap Motion's hand-tracking technology embedded into virtual reality headsets from VRgineers, users will be able to see and interact with their hands as long as they stay within the headset's field-of-view, according to the companies.
VRgineers will present a preview of this intuitive hand-tracking technology, along with its new VRHero 5K Plus headset, at the upcoming GPU Technology Conference (GTC) in San Jose, CA.
The new VR headset features two 5.7-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, 5K resolution, 24-bit color, a head strap, and a 170° field-of-view. In addition, the device includes performance enhancements supported by graphics processing unit (GPU) technology developer NVIDIA's performance-boosting framework.
The headset can be used by designers, engineers, medical/surgical practices, motion picture set designers, and architects. The company projected that the retail price of VRHero 5K Plus will start at $9,000 after installation costs.
