Medical device developer Medtronic has signed an exclusive worldwide marketing and distribution agreement with Littleton, MA-based Breakaway Imaging for its O-arm imaging system, according to the Minneapolis-based firm.
The product is an intraoperative crossover technology enabling 2D fluoroscopy, multiplane 2D, and 3D volumetric imaging, Medtronic said. The product, which received Food and Drug Administration clearance earlier this year, was initially designed for use in orthopedic surgical procedures, but will be expanded to additional surgical applications such as image-guided surgery, the company said.
