Interventional technology firm Medtronic of Minneapolis has exercised its option to acquire the O-arm Imaging System assets of Breakaway Imaging of Littleton, MA.
The deal is expected to close in June. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The O-arm Imaging System features a breakable gantry and flat-screen detector, providing multidimensional surgical imaging. It also offers 3D images, as well as multiplane 2D and fluoroscopic imaging.
The system is intended for orthopedic surgical procedures and is in use in more than 20 locations worldwide. It has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance.
