Canadian intraoperative MRI developer IMRIS of Winnipeg, Manitoba, has launched a five-year research initiative that will focus on the development and marketing of MR-guided radiation therapy and interventional procedures.
In collaboration with the University Health Network (UHN) of Toronto, IMRIS will research and test image-guided radiation therapy at UHN's Princess Margaret Hospital with its 3-tesla MR. Planned applications include the integration of IMRIS' technology with external-beam radiation therapy, MR-guided biopsies, and brachytherapy of the prostate, IMRIS said.
