Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite is presenting several new vascular technology enhancements at this week's Association for Vascular Access (AVA) annual meeting in Las Vegas.
The Bothell, WA-based firm will show its LumenVu catheter-guidance system as a work-in-progress. LumenVu, designed for visualizing the placement of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) at the point-of-care, is pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance. SonoSite expects to begin shipping LumenVu at the end of 2009.
SonoSite will also present its Power Port and Power Pack mobile power systems. Power Port allows systems to be charged without having to be docked in their stands and connected to an electrical outlet, while Power Pack can keep a scanner charged for six hours or more, according to the company.
The firm will also highlight new transducer technology for linear-array transducers on its M-Turbo scanner. Sono UltraRes uses a broader frequency range to provide improved spatial and contrast resolution while maintaining penetration, according to SonoSite.
