GE Healthcare announced that it's developing a new dynamic imaging platform for the operating room (OR).
The goal is to help surgeons better visualize cancerous tissues they are trying to remove them, while avoiding sensitive areas such as nerve endings, according to the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor. GE announced the healthymagination technology project during an event Wednesday at GE's Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY.
GE also presented its concept of a "smart" patient room that can provide real-time monitoring of safety protocols and discussed work under way to develop point-of-care diagnostic tests for tuberculosis.
