Philips Healthcare has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for HeartNavigator, a 3D interventional navigation tool.
A procedure planning and image guidance tool for interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, HeartNavigator is designed to support heart valve replacement without open heart surgery, according to the company.
Philips has installed HeartNavigator at Medical City Dallas Hospital, which became the first U.S. hospital to use the system in clinical practice. The company introduced HeartNavigator in Europe in the first quarter of 2011.
