The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared a mobile intraoperative CT scanner developed by Mobius Imaging, a partner of image-guided therapy firm Brainlab.
The 32-slice Airo Mobile intraoperative CT scanner offers the imaging quality of a diagnostic CT scanner with a scan volume of 51.2 x 100 cm, Brainlab said. Its gantry opening is 107 cm, but it possesses a small footprint so it can be easily moved from room to room.
The first shipments of the device are expected in 2014, Brainlab said.
