Interventional device developer Medtronic has completed the acquisition of Visualase, a company that develops and markets MRI-guided technology for minimally invasive neurosurgeries, including surgical thermal ablation.
Medtronic will add Visualase's MRI-guided laser ablation system to its portfolio of therapies for neurological conditions within its Surgical Technologies business, the company said.
The $105 million deal includes an initial payment of $70 million plus additional payments up to $35 million contingent upon the achievement of specific milestones, according to Medtronic.
