Strong sales of its Mazor X surgical guidance platform drove an 87% increase in revenue for surgical visualization technology developer Mazor Robotics in its second quarter.
For the period (end-June 30), Mazor had record revenues of $15.5 million, up from $8.3 million a year ago. The U.S. market contributed $14.1 million in revenues, more than double the $6.7 million produced in the second quarter of 2016. Mazor recognized revenue from 14 Mazor X systems, compared with five systems in the previous year's second quarter.
The company had a second-quarter net loss of $3.7 million, compared with a net loss of $4.1 million in the third quarter of 2016.
