Royal Philips subsidiary Philips Healthcare has launched OmniWire, a solid-core pressure wire for coronary artery interventional procedures.
Physicians can use OmniWire in a patient's circulatory system to measure vessel blood pressure and guide the placement of catheters and stents. It supports instant wave-free radio (iFR) and fractional flow reserve (FFR) measurements, and it works with Philips' IntraSight interventional applications program, the company said.
Traditional pressure wires use a hollow tube that can be difficult to maneuver; OmniWire is the first solid-core pressure guidewire, according to the firm. It is available in the U.S. and in Japan.
