Imaging processing developer Clario Medical Imaging of Seattle has signed a deal with BlinkRadiology of Springfield, IL, to combine technology from the companies into an improved tool for reading breast MR images.
The companies will launch a clinical study to test the combination of BlinkRadiology's digital "blink" comparator technology with Clario's z3D technique for interpreting findings on breast MRI scans. Clario will integrate BlinkRadiology's technology with its own z3D Contrast Acuity software, and will license and distribute BlinkRadiology's technology to its customers.
BlinkRadiology's technique is a method of displaying digital images that rapidly alternates new and prior images in front of another. The company believes that this "blinking" effect can improve the accuracy of image interpretation by taking advantage of the human brain's instinctive attraction to motion. Research on the technique was presented at the 2006 RSNA meeting.
