Imaging software development firm VPDiagnostics has introduced its MR image processing software for analyzing vascular disease, the Seattle-based company said.
MRI-PlaqueView allows researchers and clinicians to analyze MR imaging of carotid artery atherosclerosis. It is based on more than 15 years of research and validation by the Vascular Imaging Lab at the University of Washington and includes workflow and interface tools and analysis reports. The software received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in December 2008.
The company has also begun a multicenter clinical trial for the package, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. The trial results will be used to validate the application of MR imaging analysis in stroke prevention and support a future FDA submission for stroke risk assessment.
