Breast density software developer Matakina International has appointed a strategic product development director.
Jimmy Roehrig, PhD, has joined the firm and will guide U.S. sales and strategic planning for product development and intellectual property, according to the firm.
Roehrig cofounded computer-aided detection developer R2 Technology (later acquired by Hologic), and served as chief science officer there. He was responsible for building the technical team that produced the R2's ImageChecker CAD software, the first such system approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Matakina said.
Prior to R2 Technology, Roehrig held engineering and management positions at Acuson, Xonics Imaging, Lockheed Palo Alto Research Labs, and the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.
