GE Healthcare and Boston Children's Hospital have joined forces to develop artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms designed to read the radiology scans of pediatric patients, according to a recent article from the Boston Business Journal.
Radiologists from Boston Children's and scientists from GE are keyed into using AI to identify critical findings on pediatric brain scans, though the algorithms are still in the early stages of development, the report noted. Once completed, the groups plan to embed the algorithms into current GE Healthcare imaging equipment.
"So many of our parents today are using their technology to care for their children, [to help] run their lives," Sandra Fenwick, CEO of the hospital said. "So how can we use that to help engage with our patients? ... That's an effort that we've also made some significant strides in and are beginning to make enormous investments in."
