3D visualization firm Synaptive Medical has teamed with the Sunnybrook Research Institute in Toronto to receive a Canadian government grant to support commercialization of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in image-guided therapy applications.
Synaptive is listed as a partner on the Sunnybrook proposal, a targeted commercialization initiative involving AI-facilitated data processing in image-guided therapy. The grant funding will be provided under the Industry Consortium for Image Guided Therapy (ICIGT), a public-private network from Canada's Innovation, Science, and Economic Development sector, Synaptive said.
An investment of up to $49 million to support the ICIGT network of more than 78 partners was announced last week during a ceremony at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre by Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains. This investment will support the ICIGT's estimated $126 million project to apply AI and machine-learning technologies for providing more accurate image-guided therapies, according to the company.
