3D visualization firm Synaptive Medical is stepping into the spinal surgery market with a comarketing collaboration with orthopedic device firm Stryker's Advanced Guidance Technologies business.
Synaptive Medical will bring its robotically controlled Modus V digital microscope for minimally invasive spinal procedures to the partnership, along with its BrightMatter suite of products designed to help surgeons perform less invasive, patient-specific, complex cranial procedures, such as for tumor or stroke.
The Modus V features a robotic arm that moves automatically based on the positions of tracked surgical instruments and allows surgeons to operate continuously without removing their hands from the operative field to adjust the microscope.
