Northwest Radiologists and Mount Baker Imaging have provided updated information on a data breach perpetrated in January.
At the time of the data breach, which was first announced in March, it was unclear how many patients had been affected. The update has confirmed that the breach, described as a security incident causing network disruption, compromised the data of 348,118 patients.
The data that was compromised, according to a report filed with the Washington attorney general, included names; Social Security numbers; driver's license, ID, or military ID numbers; financial and banking information; dates of birth; health insurance policy or ID numbers; and medical information. The update also noted that addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and treatment and treatment cost information were included in the compromised information.
According to Northwest Radiologists and Mount Baker Imaging, no misuse of the exposed data had been detected at the time the affected patients were notified; they added that they have no reason to suspect any of the exposed information will be misused.
As a precaution, all affected individuals have been offered complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services, the radiology center added.
