Philips Speech Recognition Systems has enhanced its SpeechMagic speech recognition technology.
The enhancements, which will be shown at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual meeting in Dallas in mid-February, include Island Mode and front-end improvements. The Island Mode feature allows physicians to access SpeechMagic outside of the central network using a laptop or tablet PC, for example, according to the Vienna, Austria-based firm.
As a result, physicians can now finalize reports directly on their mobile client anytime and anywhere, Philips said. In addition, users can automatically forward generated text to a medical transcriptionist over their preferred network.
Philips has also upgraded the system's front end, including the ability to directly add dictation into medical templates to facilitate report creation. Users can also insert AutoText by voice command to reduce dictation volume, Philips said.
