Cerner acquires French IT firm

Healthcare information systems provider Cerner of Kansas City, MO, said it has acquired Axya Systemes, a Paris-based healthcare information technology company that specializes in financial, administrative, and clinical software for hospitals.

Prior to the acquisition, Axya was a privately held company with clients that include academic, private, and public hospitals in France, Switzerland, and Morocco. Axya was managed by its founders, Anne-Veronique Dufresnoy and David Kalfon, who will be members of the new firm's management team, Cerner said. The acquired company's new name is Cerner France.

Cerner noted that the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on its 2005 financial results.
