Information technology vendor HP of Palo Alto, CA, has signed an agreement with San Diego-based healthcare provider Scripps Health to jointly develop a clinical intelligence system, Enterprise Data Archive.
In addition to providing integration services, HP said it will provide its servers to Scripps as part of the deal.
When completed, Enterprise Data Archive will provide electronic medical record (EMR) capabilities for Scripps that will allow it to extract, normalize, and archive patient and research data, HP said.
The first phase of the project will extract both historical and current data from Scripps' clinical, financial, inpatient, and outpatient systems and load that data into a database system that can support clinical intelligence, ad hoc queries, quality reports, and information dashboards, according to the company.
The goal of subsequent phases will be to consolidate clinical data from the remaining clinical information systems into the Enterprise Data Archive system. The initiative also allows Scripps to retire legacy systems no longer in production, HP said.
