Healthcare information systems provider Cerner of Kansas City, MO, reported that it showed strong revenues, earnings, and bookings for its fiscal 2005 third quarter (end-October 1).
Third-quarter 2005 revenues increased 28% to $294.6 million, compared with $231.1 million in the same quarter last year. For the period, 2005 net earnings were $26.6 million, a sturdy upswing compared with net earnings of $14.8 million in the third quarter of 2004.
New business bookings revenue in the third quarter was $450.5 million, an upsurge of 109% over the third quarter of 2004 and an all-time record, Cerner said. Third-quarter bookings include $149.4 million of bookings for the initial phase of the firm's contract with Fujitsu Services as part of the U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS) initiative to automate clinical processes and digitize medical records in the southern cluster of England.
