GE to provide EMR for Vermont RHIO

GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., announced that it has been selected by Vermont Information Technology Leaders (VITL) to provide the health information technology for a statewide health information organization (RHIO).

As part of the Vermont Health Information Exchange, GE will team with healthcare information technology developer Orion Health of Auckland, New Zealand, on a chronic care information system that will help caregivers manage patients with diabetes.

Orion Health will provide its Concerto medical applications portal to review and report chronic disease data, Concerto Clinicals Disease Management application to manage the data, and the Rhapsody Integration Engine for communication between new and existing information management systems and partner applications. GE's Centricity electronic medical record (EMR) system and software will be used so that clinicians can readily view historical patient information.
