Vocada, Nuance collaborate

Healthcare information technology software developer Vocada of Dallas and speech recognition and document imaging firm Nuance Communications of Burlington, MA, have entered an agreement to integrate their products and create a simplified user interface for communicating patient data and reporting test results.

The new product will use Vocada's Veriphy system with Nuance's Dictaphone PowerScribe: Veriphy will become a component of Dictaphone PowerScribe and the two systems will share the same physician directories and database. The physician will create a voice message within PowerScribe, which will then be passed to the Veriphy system; instant notifications will be sent to the ordering clinician via pager, cell phone, fax, and e-mail, the two firms said.
