RTI International, a Research Triangle Park, NC-based private nonprofit group, is soliciting comments on ways to build antifraud and billing-error prevention features into electronic health record (EHR) systems.
The group has developed a draft of model standards for claims efficiency. The six-month project was awarded to RTI by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
The draft standard, set to be published this month, is said to improve claims accuracy and make it more difficult to file fraudulent claims with public and private healthcare plans. RTI is seeking comments from industry leaders, practitioners, and the general public by late February this year.
Those interested in reviewing and commenting on the recommendations must register at ehrantifrauddev.rti.org.
