The global market for hospital information systems is expected to produce $35 billion in revenue by 2015, according to a new report by market research firm Global Industry Analysts of San Jose, CA.
The U.S. is the largest HIS market in the world, and the U.S. market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 7.2% over the next few years. Healthcare IT software is seeing increased acceptance of products such as laboratory and radiology information systems, the report states, and electronic medical records are also a promising niche.
The Asia-Pacific region represents the fastest-growing market, with a compound annual growth rate of 11.5% over the next few years. Growth is expected to be high in countries such as Australia, China, Thailand, Malaysia, India, and the Philippines.
