Eclipsys debuts mobile Sunrise apps

Healthcare informatics firm Eclipsys of Atlanta has updated its Sunrise Enterprise portfolio of products with a suite of mobility applications it is debuting at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference in Atlanta.

The applications, designed for Apple iPhone and iPod touch devices, feature a user interface built specifically for mobility and integration with the company's healthcare information technology portfolio.

Eclipsys has embedded Burlington, MA-based Nuance Communication's Dragon Medical Mobile capabilities within a smartphone to allow physicians and nurses to have speech-driven navigation and recognition with a mobile device. For physicians, Eclipsys' Apple iPhone application allows for quick access to patient information and order entry capabilities. For nurses, the application features task lists and patient management features for the Apple iPod touch or iPhone, according to the vendor.

In other Eclipsys news, the company has launched an open-architecture platform called Helios by Eclipsys. The new platform provides certified third-party companies with open, secure access to common services and visual and data integration. Through Helios, healthcare organizations can now use the applications they want with Eclipsys Enterprise, Eclipsys said.
