Healthcare information technology developer Healthcare Management Systems (HMS) of Nashville, TN, plans to launch a new interoperability package called HMS Connex at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) meeting in Atlanta.
The package will enable the exchange of clinical data between third-party systems, health information exchanges, and public registries, the company said. HMS Connex is built around Mirth Corporation's technology platform and customized for the HMS product suite. It is designed to help users report hospital quality measures to the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), exchange key clinical information among healthcare providers, submit lab results to public health agencies, and submit data to immunization registries.
The package also provides a stable platform that can be used for future data exchange, whether within or outside of the hospital, including exchange of information with external partners, public registries, or community regional health information organizations, HMS said.
