HP launches EHReady program

Computer giant Hewlett-Packard of Palo Alto, CA, has launched EHReady, a new program to support and accelerate the adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) among hospitals and physicians.

The program, from HP's Healthcare Personal Systems Group, represents a soup-to-nuts approach for hospitals and affiliated physician practices to implement electronic medical records technology.

EHReady includes consulting services to conduct an "IT checkup" site assessment and gap analysis, healthcare IT network and product planning, and software and hardware equipment sales, installation, and training. Data migration services and financing are also offered.

In addition, the program offers marketing toolkits and consultations with healthcare IT marketing specialists to enable both hospitals and physician practices promote their adoption of e-health record systems to patients and peers.

The program will also be extended to healthcare associations and regional extension centers to enable these organizations to offer a comprehensive EHR solution to extend to their members, according to Chris Mertens, vice president of HP's healthcare group.
