The U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has published a federal health IT strategic plan for 2011-2015 and is soliciting comments from the public.
The plan describes how the ONC will work collaboratively with its federal partners and the private sector to achieve meaningful use of healthcare IT, a requirement for receiving stimulus funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
It also address how the ONC and other federal agencies will increase protections to keep electronic health information private, empower individuals with access to their electronic health information, and enhance the ability to study care delivery and payment systems.
Individuals may comment on the plan through April 22, 2011.
