The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded a $78 million contract to Science Applications International (SAIC) to provide enterprise remote identity proofing and multifactor authentication.
SAIC will develop an infrastructure to improve the identity proofing and authentication requirements for Medicare and Medicaid providers, the firm said.
By integrating state-of-technology identity proofing and credential provisioning in compliance with NIST 800-63-1 level 2 and level 3 assurance, it will develop software to minimize the risk of fraud while leveraging a secure cloud services model. The software will also enable access to CMS systems using multiple devices, including secure mobile access technologies, the company said.
